Tim started as Vice President
of Operations for ZEVEX
International in December of 2002. ZEVEX International is a
publicly held medical products company. Through its business divisions
and subsidiaries, ZEVEX provides medical product design and
manufacturing services, manufactures and markets enteral nutrition
delivery products, and designs and markets functional and physical
evaluation products.
His challenge is to bring Lean
Manufacturing techniques into the workplace and support the
significant growth goals of ZEVEX. See the article "Leading
with Lean" in (December 2003) The
Manufacturer.
In 2001 and 2002, Tim worked
as Manufacturing VP for HemaMetrics, a young medical device company
working with real time optical parametric blood analysis techniques.
Tim introduced HemaMetrics to a world class outsourcing partner and
developed the initial transition from manufacturing inside to the full
turnkey partner.
In 1999, as
Director of Operations for Neurosmith, a smart toy company that had yet
to manufacture, Tim developed the necessary systems resulting in a
factory in China producing 5 times the company’s sales estimate of the
Neurosmith hit product Music Blocks. Now, 75% of Neurosmith
products are made by one of the largest factories in China.
In 1996, as
Director of Operations for Philips, Tim managed the total Supply Chain
for one of the biggest producers of capital equipment in the television
broadcast industry. Implementing demand flow technology to the
manufacturing process allowed Philips to meet customer orders on time
with a 30% reduction in support staff.
Beginning in 1991 as Site
Manager for Ohmeda Medical Systems, Tim ran all aspects of Ohmeda's
manufacturing facility in Colorado, including production, materials,
engineering and facilities. Within this high volume assembly
environment, Tim managed a 20% per quarter volume growth and grew the
organization from 40 to 200 people.
Tim started his career in
1978 by building a solid foundation of experience with Honeywell.
Starting as an entry level engineer, Tim worked his way up the
engineering ranks to the most senior engineering level, "Principal
Engineer". Tim's engineering experience included product
development, manufacturing and test, in both the commercial product and
defense electronics businesses. In 1986 became Honeywell’s
Manufacturing Engineer Manager, directing a staff of 30.
Tim has spent considerable
time in Mainland China working hands-on with local firms providing
electronic and mechanical designs, complete turn-key product
development, product consolidation and freight logistics. Sourcing
the correct supplier based on business or project need, contract
negotiation, problem solving and support logistics are areas where Tim
has excelled in dealing with Chinese partners.
Tim has also worked
assignments in Korea, Mexico and in Germany where he speaks the native
language.

Tim has over 25 years of experience in
engineering and manufacturing working for technology companies such as
Honeywell, Ohmeda Health Care, Philips N.V., as well as start-up
ventures.
